In 2355, the Hope is discovered drifting over the outskirts on the Halcyon process by scientist Phineas Vernon Welles, who manages to properly revive one of the passengers, the Stranger. Welles informs the Stranger that the Halcyon colonies have fallen on difficult instances because of the incompetence and greed on the megacorporations (referred to
